Hey everyone, it's Liana here, checking in with another fantastic engagement session! The best part about this one though? It wasn't just an engagement session, it was a proposal! Before I get into all of the wonderful details, let me go ahead and give a little bit of backstory!
Andrea and I met during our freshman year of high school, way back in 2006. We were in the same row for gym class! Throughout several moves, we've still remained good friends, and some of you might recognize her; she modeled for us last year during our styled shoot! Her and Josh volunteered their time, got dressed to the nines, and modeled out at Mount Pleasant Estates. Andrea's pro tip is if you really want to freak your friends out, go ahead and get fake married haha. It was a blast working with them, so you can imagine my excitement when Josh texted me with his idea!
Josh and Andrea met at a party that neither of them were planning on going to. He saved her from an awkward conversation, and they started talking. The next thing they knew, it was 6am! And they haven't stopped talking since <3 Josh and Andrea have been dating for 5 years, but some of that time was spent with distance in between. The distance wasn't ideal, but it helped that they have dealt with it before. They also lived together for a year, which Andrea says helped build a foundation before the relationship was put to the test and strained, and almost made the distance a little bit easier.
A couple of weeks before their engagement, Josh texted me and asked me to do one of my favorite things; photograph his proposal to Andrea! Of course, I said yes! I even moved some work events around to be there for this big moment! Josh wanted to propose at the City Museum, one of his and Andrea's favorite places to visit when they're both in St. Louis. I loved the idea, and was excited to photograph in this awesome space! (If you live in STL and have never been, oh my goodness, please go. Like, this weekend.)
Josh had everything planned out, and Andrea had no idea it was coming. Josh left the house early, and left clues at the house and all over the City Museum for Andrea to find. The last clue was located in the architecture section of the museum, which is a special place for both of them, seeing as they both studied Architecture in college and are working in their field! I loved everything about this day, especially since Andrea thought they were just going to spend the day packing for their move up to Detroit!
Once Andrea found all of the clues, she opened all of the envelopes to read what was inside, and that's when Josh came out from behind the door! She had NO idea he was even there, but before she could even get an answer to that question, Josh dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring! Andrea immediately began crying, completely in shock. Of course, she said yes!! After a couple of minutes of happy tears, laughter, and finally getting the ring on, Josh pointed out that I was there. As soon as Andrea saw me, it finally clicked that it was planned! I was so thankful that Josh asked me to help capture their special day, and we had a great time going around the City Museum and getting some fun photos! I wanted to give a big shout out to Zak Littrell, a floor manager at the City Museum. He helped Josh organize this whole plan! He was so helpful the day of, and even took us behind the scenes some! He was a great person to work with, so if you ever need help at the City Museum, seek him out!
Before I wrote this blog, I asked Andrea if she saw the proposal coming. She said. "No I didn't see the proposal coming. I honestly thought I was coming to help him pack. The night before we were packing and I knew he was working on proposal things, so I asked if there were any boxes I shouldn't look at. He flat out told me "Don't worry I'm not going to propose this weekend." Then in the morning my Dad (who was in on the gig), was asking when we were packing up and such. I figured he would know (he did), so I was completely thrown off."
