Missouri Botanical Garden Engagement | Cody+Kristie!

Hello everyone! Liana here, and I’m excited to be sharing this engagement session from way back at the end of May! Cody and Kristie traveled in to visit family, and we managed to squeeze in a beautiful (albeit, hot!) engagement session at the Missouri Botanical Gardens! This is one of my favorite spaces in St. Louis, and I am so glad I finally got to photograph a session there! Check out their gorgeous photos below <3

Announcement from Liana

Hello everyone! It’s Liana here, and I have a little bit of an announcement to make, so bear with me!

I need to start by saying that I absolutely LOVE weddings. I love photographing them, helping out the day of, and the whole process leading up to the wedding day. So naturally, when I found a job opening at Complete Weddings + Events for a Marketing Manager position, I immediately filled out the application. Once applied, I waited patiently to hear back from them. Three days later, I received an email to set up a first interview, and the rest flew by fast.

Last Thursday, I was offered the position out of 300 resumes, 20 first round interviews, and 4 second interviews, and I accepted.

I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’m taking time to tell you all of this, and I don’t blame you! The reason I’m explaining this to you all is because per conditions of my new role, I was required to sign a non-compete clause. What this means is past the two remaining weddings we have for 2019, I will no longer be able to photograph weddings. Now, this does not mean that K&L Photography will no longer cease to photograph weddings; it just means that the L part of the name is no longer there. Katie and I discussed this decision at length, way before my initial interview with Complete. Katie understood and agreed that she should still continue to run the business.

Again, let me stress that for our two October weddings, I will still be there! I explained this to the company and they allowed me to grandfather those two weddings in. I will still be editing photos and connecting with our current brides and grooms. However, as of October 20th, I will no longer be photographing weddings.

This was a tough choice, but the right one. This job opportunity is much more than just a paycheck to me; it’s what I want to do in terms of my career. I thank you all for your support, and again, Katie will be taking over all social media, emails, etc.!

Thank you <3

Norman Wedding | Sneak Peek!

Hello everyone!

Both Katie and Liana here tonight, and we’re so excited to be sharing this sneak peek of Catherine & Conner Norman’s wedding a couple of weeks ago! This gorgeous wedding took place at Mount Pleasant Estates in Augusta, MO and everything was perfect. After all the rain we had been getting we were a little worried, however the entire day the sun was shining and the weather was great. Catherine looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress, and the colors they had picked out were PERFECT.

So tonight, enjoy these images and stay tuned for more sneak peeks and the final images coming over the next few weeks!

Cody+Kristie: Engagement Sneak Peek!

Good evening everyone! Liana here, and oh boy, do we have a lot of new work to share over the next few weeks! Not only do we have an engagement session, but we have a beautiful wedding to share as well! We’ll also have some personal sessions coming up too. For now though, we have a sneak peek of our most recent engagement session.

Kristie and Cody live in Garden City, Kansas, but Kristie’s family is from the STL area! They came into town over Memorial Day Weekend/Week, and got in touch with me. I know Kristie’s mom, Diane, through networking, and Diane was originally the one who asked me about engagement sessions! I was more than eager to share, and when she told me Kristie and Cody were thinking of one of my favorite places, I couldn’t say no! Kristie and Cody wished to have their engagement session at the Missouri Botanical Gardens! You all know from previous posts that I absolutely love the Gardens, and was thrilled to FINALLY photograph a session there!

Of course, in true Midwest fashion, it was about 85 degrees with 99% humidity haha. They were troopers though, and we managed to get some beautiful photos! Check them out below!

Memphis Botanic Garden!

Hello everyone! Liana here, and I think today is the perfect day for this blog post. If you’re in the state of Missouri, then I’m sure you know about the severe storms spreading across the state. This blog post is full of bright and stunning floral/landscape photos! These moments were captured at the end of April, when I was able to visit the Memphis Botanic Garden while I was in the city for work. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, and that you stay safe throughout this storm system hitting us!

Erica & Mazzie!

Hello everyone! Liana here, and I’m thrilled to finally be blogging again! Recently, I have been traveling for work, and going down to Memphis. Thankfully, Katie and I both have a friend, Erica, who lives down there! I’m sure you’ll remember her as soon as you see her, considering she’s been on the blog several times before!

As a thank you gift, I decided to take some photos of Erica and her cute little chihuahua, Mazzie (pronounced Maisie!). These photos turned out so well, and on top of a great thank you gift, it was a congratulations gift too! Erica just passed one of her hardest tests for her degree, so we wanted to celebrate! Check out all the cuteness below!

Updates + Apologies!

Hello everyone! Long time, no posts over here on our end. Katie and myself have been extremely busy with our full-time jobs plus our family lives, that we have swayed away from our photography business and everything else that comes with it, including new posts to Facebook, Instagram, and of course, our blog. We haven’t even updated our website to add new work! So I wanted to take the time today to send out a blog post about our upcoming wedding season, our goals for 2019/2020, and give you guys an update on what has been going on in the past two months!

Right after our last post (Feb. 12th), my hard drive crashed. I lost a good deal of older images; however, the majority of them were saved thanks to the cloud and the photos app on my Mac. During that time, I was forced to re-edit two sessions I had previously done and finished, which took a while. Katie was starting a new position at work, requiring her to work every other Saturday, giving us less time to photograph anything.

Towards the end of February and beginning of March, we focused all of our free time on prepping for the Kansas City Bridal Expo that took place March 23-24th. I had some family problems take place right at the beginning of March, and when I wasn’t at work, I was at home helping out. I barely had time to look at Facebook, let alone go out and take photos.

The wedding show in March was extremely stressful and costly, and Katie and I have decided it’s in our best interest to not do another one. We would like to stay the small business that we are currently, so we can devote more time to getting to know our wedding clients and making their wedding day absolutely perfect. While we loved meeting new brides-to-be, we both had panic attacks throughout the process and neither of us were happy about it.

After the wedding show, Katie and I got together and re-evaluated our business. We both decided that our photography business will stay a side business, as neither of us are looking to make this our full time job. We both currently have full time jobs that pay our bills, and our wedding business is just a little bonus to help out with vacations or home expenses. After working out our new goals, we both felt at ease going forward with K&L Photography.

Fast forward to this month. I’ve been traveling for work and Katie has been working every other Saturday, not to mention late nights and traveling back and forth to see her family near St. Louis. As I type this, I’m sitting in my friend’s apartment in Memphis, TN, where I am for work this week. Thankfully I have some free time, and I am able to travel around the area and get back to photographing the things that inspired me to start this venture in the first place: being in nature. Of course I love to photograph weddings, but being out and taking photos of flowers and landscapes is where I got my love of photography from.

So what does this mean for the future? Yes, we will still be photographing weddings. We have 3 this upcoming year, with our first being on June 1st. We also have a few family sessions and engagement sessions as well. We will be posting less often, maybe 1-2 blogs per month, and we will be focusing on all the aspects of what we photograph. We appreciate everyone’s continued support, and we apologize for being absent for so long. Our next blog post will be in two weeks, which gives Katie and I some time to edit our sessions and get them out there for you all to see!

Vendor Hi-Lite: Boulevard Bride!

Hello everyone! Liana here, and as many of you know, I have been working with Boulevard Bride since last fall, which is a bridal boutique located in Lake St. Louis!
