Norman Wedding | Sneak Peek!

Hello everyone!

Both Katie and Liana here tonight, and we’re so excited to be sharing this sneak peek of Catherine & Conner Norman’s wedding a couple of weeks ago! This gorgeous wedding took place at Mount Pleasant Estates in Augusta, MO and everything was perfect. After all the rain we had been getting we were a little worried, however the entire day the sun was shining and the weather was great. Catherine looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress, and the colors they had picked out were PERFECT.

So tonight, enjoy these images and stay tuned for more sneak peeks and the final images coming over the next few weeks!

Updates + Apologies!

Hello everyone! Long time, no posts over here on our end. Katie and myself have been extremely busy with our full-time jobs plus our family lives, that we have swayed away from our photography business and everything else that comes with it, including new posts to Facebook, Instagram, and of course, our blog. We haven’t even updated our website to add new work! So I wanted to take the time today to send out a blog post about our upcoming wedding season, our goals for 2019/2020, and give you guys an update on what has been going on in the past two months!

Right after our last post (Feb. 12th), my hard drive crashed. I lost a good deal of older images; however, the majority of them were saved thanks to the cloud and the photos app on my Mac. During that time, I was forced to re-edit two sessions I had previously done and finished, which took a while. Katie was starting a new position at work, requiring her to work every other Saturday, giving us less time to photograph anything.

Towards the end of February and beginning of March, we focused all of our free time on prepping for the Kansas City Bridal Expo that took place March 23-24th. I had some family problems take place right at the beginning of March, and when I wasn’t at work, I was at home helping out. I barely had time to look at Facebook, let alone go out and take photos.

The wedding show in March was extremely stressful and costly, and Katie and I have decided it’s in our best interest to not do another one. We would like to stay the small business that we are currently, so we can devote more time to getting to know our wedding clients and making their wedding day absolutely perfect. While we loved meeting new brides-to-be, we both had panic attacks throughout the process and neither of us were happy about it.

After the wedding show, Katie and I got together and re-evaluated our business. We both decided that our photography business will stay a side business, as neither of us are looking to make this our full time job. We both currently have full time jobs that pay our bills, and our wedding business is just a little bonus to help out with vacations or home expenses. After working out our new goals, we both felt at ease going forward with K&L Photography.

Fast forward to this month. I’ve been traveling for work and Katie has been working every other Saturday, not to mention late nights and traveling back and forth to see her family near St. Louis. As I type this, I’m sitting in my friend’s apartment in Memphis, TN, where I am for work this week. Thankfully I have some free time, and I am able to travel around the area and get back to photographing the things that inspired me to start this venture in the first place: being in nature. Of course I love to photograph weddings, but being out and taking photos of flowers and landscapes is where I got my love of photography from.

So what does this mean for the future? Yes, we will still be photographing weddings. We have 3 this upcoming year, with our first being on June 1st. We also have a few family sessions and engagement sessions as well. We will be posting less often, maybe 1-2 blogs per month, and we will be focusing on all the aspects of what we photograph. We appreciate everyone’s continued support, and we apologize for being absent for so long. Our next blog post will be in two weeks, which gives Katie and I some time to edit our sessions and get them out there for you all to see!

Why Two? | A little info

Good evening, everyone!

Katie here, and tonight we’re doing a something a little different. Liana and I thought a quick blog about the benefits of having two photographers for your wedding day would be a good idea.

Many regret not spending money on the photography section of their wedding, and a lot of people think cutting out a photographer can save money. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “I wish I would’ve spent the money and gotten a better photographer”. At the end of the day, when the cake is cut and the guests are gone, the only thing you’ll really have left are your photographs.

A lot of people question as to why they should have two photographers photographing the same thing, but we can tell you that there are several reasons why- here’s just a few!

  1. Walk down the aisle

The moment you see your future Mr./Mrs. at the end of the aisle is always a favorite. Getting your reaction seeing your partner, your partner seeing you, AND your parents reactions is a must! Getting all of the reactions when there’s only one photographer isn’t likely. With two photographers, one of us is at each end of the aisle, ready to capture those perfect reactions.

  2. Moments across the room/Different perspectives

There is so much that happens on your special day, and you’ll be so busy you won’t realize what’s going on on the other side of the room! It’s these little moments that can make the best memories- your grandma dancing, the little kids chasing each other across the dance floor, or even just catching that smile on the groom when he spots his bride across the floor. Two photographers means double the coverage, which means no moment is missed!

  3. Getting ready

Having two photographers means one photographer is with the bride and bridesmaids, while the other is with the groom and groomsmen. Some of the funniest pictures come from these moments while everyone is laid back having a good time (and possibly a mimosa?).

  4. Backup if something’s missed

While we all hope that nothing stops us from getting that perfect shot, sometimes things happen- such as a guest stepping in front of the photographer so we can’t capture that special moment. Two photographers means double the coverage to make sure no moment- big or small is missed.

These are just a few things that show why two photographers is so important! Luckily for you, the prices you receive when booking with K&L Photography always include 2 photographers! We hope this post gives you a peek into our jobs and know that we always work hard to capture your day!

Kristen & Spencer: Sneak Peek!

Hey guys! Liana here, checking in after an extremely long day! I wanted to get this blog post out quickly, so I apologize if there's not much to it!

I've know Kristen and Spencer for about ten years now, meeting them in high school. That's also when their romance started <3 So when we all ran into each other last year at the gym, it was almost fate that they were engaged! Their wedding was nothing short of perfect, and showcased their personalities everywhere. Check out some sneak peek photos below!

Check back next week for Ember's newborn session!

Jane&Joey: Married!

Hello everyone, and Happy Halloween! It's Liana here, checking in to share a full blog post of Jane and Joey's wedding! Before I begin, there's been some changes to the K&L business! What are they, may you ask? Well, I am proud to announce that Katie and Beau gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 26th, 2017! Please welcome Ember Margaret Flickinger into the family! Katie and Ember are doing great, and are working on settling in at home! I'm thrilled to be photographing her newborn photos this upcoming weekend <3

We also ended our wedding season with an absolutely stunning fall party, celebrating Kristen and Spencer's marriage. No worries, that sneak peek will be coming next week! Lots of amazing blog posts coming up in the next few weeks, so make sure you keep checking back! Now, onto our main subject!

Katie and I first met Jane and Joey at the Mount Pleasant Wedding Show last September. They are such a fun loving couple, and we were ecstatic when they reached out to us for their engagement and wedding photos! Last October, Jane and Joey were willing to brave the early morning and met me for a sunrise engagement session in Old Town St. Charles. It was great getting to know this adorable couple, their love for quirky things, and of course, their love for each other. Jane and Joey were so laid back, that I knew their wedding would be a breeze!

October 8th was a beautiful day for October. It was sunny, with a high of 80 degrees. Jane and Joey held their ceremony and reception at Mount Pleasant Estates, and it was the perfect setting for their big day. They decided on a first look before the ceremony, and Joey's reaction was perfect! After they said their "I Do's" in a touching ceremony (with a lot of laughter and a little bit of tears!) it was party time! Their introduction song was perfect (ahem, Backstreet Boys!) and we moved straight into toasts! The best man and maid of honor both gave great speeches, highlighting their friendships and how happy they were for Jane and Joey. Of course, after dinner, there was dancing, drinking, and cake! The best part was the sparkler send off to end the evening <3 Check out the photos below!
